Whatever happened to it being all about the music, man? These days it's anything but for Fall Out Boy bassist/lyricist Pete Wentz, who has had to deal with three instances of public ridicule this month. Instance number one: On March 1, Wentz was involved in a full-out LiveJournal brawl with a former pal from Chicago, Christopher Gutierrez, who blamed the bassist for attempting to steal his girlfriend and then called him a "shitty, opportunist businessman with even shittier fashion sense" and a "fucking sellout." Instance number two: On March 3, Fall Out Boy were wrapping up a sold-out secret gig at New York's Knitting Factory when Wentz attempted to dive from the club's balcony into the crowd below and landed on the concrete floor instead of in the arms of adoring fans. Instance number three: On March 8, revealing photos of Wentz's southern region were mysteriously leaked from his Sidekick on to the internet. The pics quickly spread through message boards and gossip sites. Wentz has since posted a letter of apology and explanation via the band's website and blames no one but himself. He thanked fans for their support and was lighthearted about his bad run. "It's been a tough couple of weeks for me lately. The only good thing about times of adversity is that you realize who your real friends and fans are — and the rest go away — which in my mind is an OK thing. "The moral of the story," Wentz concluded: "If you really don't want pictures of yourself to end up on the internet, don't take the pictures."
good moral, pete. thanks =] |
